Bulk Item Pickup Clarification Under New Waste Collection Program
We are receiving many questions and are observing some confusion regarding bulk item pickup under the new Waste Management service. Here is a clarification:
- Each household may place up to 2 bulk items per month at the curb
- Bulk items are collected on a specific collection day each month (red square on the collection schedule), not every collection day.
- Bulk pickup occurs on the last full week of the month on your regular service day (Thursday or Friday).
- If the last day of the month is a Thursday, then bulk collection will occur the week prior.
- If you have more than 2 items, or want to schedule bulk pickup at a time other than your bulk pickup day for a fee, you are able to do so by contacting Waste Management.
Note: When contacting Waste Management, residents may be asked for an account number. The Village utilizes a municipal account, so residents should let customer service know they are part of the Village of Union Grove program and provide their address instead.
The Village has also updated Waste Management’s informational materials provided to residents to more clearly reflect how bulk collection is scheduled.
