Phase 2 of UGHS Site Improvements Approved

At its February 2 meeting, the Plan Commission approved site improvements at Union Grove Union High School focused on parking, traffic flow, and student safety.

As part of the broader referendum expansion, the project will ultimately increase total on-site parking from 354 spaces to 670 spaces, a net gain of 316 spaces. During this initial phase of construction, parking will temporarily decrease while new lots are developed in future phases.

The approved improvements also include reconfigured staff and visitor parking, a new bus drop-off loop, internal pedestrian walkways, lighting updates, and access changes coordinated with WisDOT.

These changes are intended to improve safety, traffic circulation, and long-term site capacity.

  • Bundles must be stacked no more than 4 feet high and 6 feet long.

  • Limit one brush pile of this size per pickup.

  • Tree trunks and stumps over 50 pounds

Reminder to Not Flush Wipes into the Toilet

Disposable wipes may be convenient, but they do not break down like toilet paper. When flushed, wipes can clog both household plumbing and the Village’s sewer system.

Wipes catch on small imperfections inside sewer pipes, collect grease and debris, and build into large blockages that can plug the line. They also get pulled into lift station and treatment plant pumps, where they can cause significant damage. When that happens, equipment must be shut down and manually cleared, which takes staff time and leads to costly repairs.

Even if a product is labeled “flushable,” it should not be flushed. The only items that belong in the toilet are human waste and toilet paper.

Flushing wipes can result in expensive plumbing repairs at home and higher costs for the wastewater utility. Please dispose of wipes in the trash to help protect your plumbing and the Village’s sewer system.
