November 2026 Monthly E-News
Yard Waste and Bulk Pickup Changes Coming in 2027
Beginning in January, bulk pickup will be available every non-recycling week, increasing service from once a month to two or three times per month. Yard waste collection will take place on recycling weeks from March through November. Garbage will continue to be collected weekly.
The Village worked with Waste Management to align these services with the every-other-week recycling schedule. This replaces the numbered-week schedule for yard waste and bulk collection, which did not consistently line up with recycling weeks.
Residents may schedule up to two bulk items per bulk collection week and must contact Waste Management at least two days in advance. To schedule a pickup, call 262-369-3080 or visit home.wm.com/muni.
New Building Inspection Provider Beginning 2027
Municipal Code Enforcement (MCE) will become the Village’s building inspection provider beginning January 1, 2027. The Village Board approved the agreement in October following a review of proposals and interviews with prospective providers.
MCE has served municipalities since 2019. Its team includes state-certified inspectors and administrative staff who can assist residents and contractors with permit questions, inspection scheduling, and follow-up. In Union Grove, MCE will handle building permit reviews and inspections and provide assistance with zoning applications.
Winter Parking Rules Begin November 15
Alternate side parking takes effect November 15 and continues through March 15. Between 2 and 6 a.m., vehicles must be parked on the side of the street that matches the calendar date after midnight:
-
Even dates: Park on the even-numbered side.
-
Odd dates: Park on the odd-numbered side.
For example, if you park on the evening of November 14, choose the odd-numbered side because it will be November 15 during enforcement hours.
These rules apply to all Village streets except Main Street, where overnight parking is prohibited. Violations may result in a citation or towing.
During a declared snow emergency, vehicles must be removed from public streets, highways, and alleys for the duration of the emergency. Watch the Village website for announcements and visit the Parking Regulations page for more information.
New Online Payment System Coming Soon
The Village will transition from Xpress Bill Pay to Caselle Community Connect for online payments over the course of the next few months. The Village Board approved the change in October after learning that the existing connection between Xpress Bill Pay and the Village’s accounting software will be discontinued.
Community Connect will allow residents to pay utility bills online while reducing monthly costs for the Village and lowering transaction fees for users. Residents will continue to be able to view their utility bills and water usage online.
Residents do not need to make any changes at this time. The Village will share instructions for setting up a Community Connect account, including information for customers enrolled in automatic payments, before the transition. Xpress Bill Pay will remain in place until the switch is complete.
Public Hearing on the Proposed 2027 Budget
Residents are invited to attend a public hearing on the Village’s proposed 2027 budget on November 9 at 6pm at the Union Grove Municipal Center, 925 15th Avenue.
The hearing provides an opportunity to learn about proposed spending for Village services, infrastructure improvements, and utilities, and to share comments with the Village Board before the budget is considered for adoption.
Residents are encouraged to attend and participate.
